Let’s reference this armor in its simplicity. The armor is symbolic of Christ Jesus himself for the priesthood that he has established as the Word of God.
Hebrews 5:1
” The Perfect High Priest

Every high priest is appointed from among men to represent them in matters relating to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins.”

” So also Christ did not take upon Himself the glory of becoming a high priest, but He was called by the One who said to Him:

Christ began to establish his kingdom..In Jerusalem. We await the New Jerusalem which he is preparing to occupy and reign, and for us to join him also.
But why was there a need for a new city? It’s is evident here;
Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city! She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the Lord; she drew not near to her God.
Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they gnaw not the bones till the morrow. Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.
Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the Lord, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger:
for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy. For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve him with one consent.

The Elders which are among you, I beseech which am also an Elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed, Feed the flock of God, which dependeth upon you, caring for it not by constraint, but willingly: not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind:

This is the truth, and truth is the Word of God.
What happens when someone is not a lover of truth? That person will be cut by the Word of truth.
For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Here is where one of the actual events occurred as Christ himself uses the Word (Sword) and the armor which he has given us:

Now the scriptures to reference are these, let’s see how Jesus is revealed in both sword & armor:
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

First, let’s remember that this verse is to us as Christ’s priests. We must read it as such because we are in covenant with Christ Jesus and will serve in his kingdom as Priests and kings..in full armor!
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

If you have doubts about the authority Christ has given you, begin to recite the scriptures of proclamation aloud.
Picture this: that you are hoping to become a priest in Christ’s kingdom, on bended knee with head bowed, you begin quoting this scripture in regards to entering Christ’s Priesthood:

That is powerful! The Lord has empowered his people, the saints everywhere, to resist the enemy. We are in Christ’s kingdom and are to be prepared to encounter evil. We will stand in the armor of Christ, prepared to resist.
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us.
Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Beware that this is about the devil, his doctrine, spiritual attacks, and supernatural events, remember that we are in this world first, and yes the devil is here also..and uses people we may know.
Understand that the armor for priesthood must be tested and starts with wearing “the truth” to resist evil. Let’s look at when the armor is being used in battle.
Beloved, do not believe every spirit [speaking through a self-proclaimed prophet]; instead test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets and teachers have gone out into the world.

Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their’s also was. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Wow, we can clearly see the battlefield, where the full armor is necessary when the priesthood is to stand during attacks. These are deliberately against the truth, against sound doctrine, and Christ’s principles.
We just read this “Yea, and all that will live Godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution”.
This attack begins when our first spiritual battle is in our mind. This is an indication that someone needs the armor of Christ:
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
For I joyfully delight in the law of God in my inner self [with my new nature], We know that the Law is spiritual, but I am a creature of the flesh [worldly, self-reliant—carnal and unspiritual], sold into slavery to sin [and serving under its control]. For I do not understand my own actions [I am baffled and bewildered by them].
I do not practice what I want to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate [and yielding to my human nature, my worldliness—my sinful capacity]. So now [if that is the case, then] it is no longer I who do it [the disobedient thing which I despise], but the sin [nature] which lives in me.
but I see a different law and rule of action in the members of my body [in its appetites and desires], waging war against the law of my mind and subduing me and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is within my members.

So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind serve the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh [my human nature, my worldliness, my sinful capacity—I serve] the law of sin.

Let’s recognize the spiritual doctrine aka laws: Back to our priesthood scenario, You have quoted your scripture, and now wait for Christ to receive you into his kingdom, you now listen and hear this…
For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
Now the mind of the flesh is death [both now and forever—because it pursues sin]; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace [the spiritual well-being that comes from walking with God—both now and forever];
However, you are not [living] in the flesh [controlled by the sinful nature] but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God lives in you [directing and guiding you]. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him [and is not a child of God]. If Christ lives in you, though your [natural] body is dead because of sin, your spirit is alive because of righteousness [which He provides].
For all who are allowing themselves to be led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading again to fear [of God’s judgment], but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons [the Spirit producing sonship] by which we [joyfully] cry, “Abba! Father!”
The Spirit Himself testifies and confirms together with our spirit [assuring us] that we [believers] are children of God.
And if [we are His] children, [then we are His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance], if indeed we share in His suffering so that we may also share in His glory.

In conclusion
Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory?
