Administration, Offices & Gifts Part 3: Teachers

For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people, Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

But now our high Priest hath obtained a more excellent office, inasmuch as he is the Mediator of a better Testament, which is established upon better promises.

For if that first Testament had been unblameable, no place should have been sought for the second. In that he saith a new Testament, he hath abrogated the old: now that which is disannulled and waxed old, is ready to vanish away.

Let every man as he hath received the gift, minister the same one to another, as good disposers of the manifold grace of God.
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Pet.4.10&version=GNV

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;

For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

For this is the Testament that I will make with the house of Israel, After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my Laws in their mind, and in their heart I will write them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.

Let’s see how the Lord taught mankind at the beginning of creation.

¶ The Lord God also made the man of the dust of the ground, and breathed in his face breath of life, and the man was a living soul.

So the Lord God formed of the earth every beast of the field, and every fowl of the heaven, and brought them unto the man to see how he would call them: for howsoever the man named the living creature, so was the name thereof.

The man therefore gave names unto all cattle, and to the fowl of the heaven, and to every beast of the field: but for Adam found he not an helper meet for him.

Here is the more detailed version of this account by Moses.

Then the Lord said unto him, Who hath given the mouth to man? or who hath made the dumb, or the deaf, or him that seeth, or the blind? have not I the Lord?

Therefore go now, and I will be with thy mouth, and will teach thee what thou shalt say.

Therefore thou shalt speak unto him, and put the words in his mouth, and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye ought to do.

And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be as thy mouth, and thou shalt be to him as God.
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exod.4.11,Exod.4.12,Exod.4.15,Exod.4.16&version=GNV

Here we see why teaching “What the Lord God said” was necessary for a teacher:

They said to Moses, You speak to us, and we’ll listen. But don’t let God speak to us, or we’ll die.

Then God spoke all these words: I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You must have no other gods before me. Do not make an idol for yourself—no form whatsoever—of anything in the sky above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth.

Do not bow down to them or worship them, because I, the Lord your God, am a passionate God.

I punish children for their parents’ sins even to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me.

Do not use the Lord your God’s name as if it were of no significance; the Lord won’t forgive anyone who uses his name that way.

The Lord said to Moses: “Say this to the Israelites: You saw for yourselves how I spoke with you from heaven. Don’t make alongside me gods of silver or gold for yourselves.

So here we are:

Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.

The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

Behold, God exalteth by his power: what teacher is like him?

Who hath appointed to him his way? or who can say, Thou hast done wickedly?

Now to the New Testament – Regarding Yeshua:

1 Christ teacheth Nicodemus the very principles of Christian regeneration.

There was now a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God, for no man could do these miracles that thou doest, except God were with him.
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John.3.1,John.3.2&version=GNV

We can qualify this with another passage from Yeshua himself:

But Jesus loudly declared, “The one who believes trusts in Me does not believe [only] in Me but [also believes] in Him who sent Me. And whoever sees Me sees the One who sent Me.

If anyone hears My words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but to save the world.

Whoever rejects Me and refuses to accept My teachings, has one who judges him; the word that I spoke will judge condemn him on the last day.

For I have never spoken on My own initiative authority, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment what to say and what to speak.
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John.12.44,John.12.45,John.12.47,John.12.48,John.12.49&version=AMP

Let’s understand how the body of Gentiles came together:

For from ancient generations [the writing of] Moses has been preached in every city, since he is read aloud in the synagogues every Sabbath.”

Then the apostles and the elders, together with the whole church, decided to select some of their men to go to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas—Judas, who was called Barsabbas, and Silas [also called Silvanus, both], leading men among the brothers.

Since we have heard that some of our men have troubled you with their teachings, causing distress and confusion—men to whom we gave no such orders or instructionsit has been decided by us, having met together, to select men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to place on you any greater than these essentials:

But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, and with many others also continued teaching and proclaiming the good news, the word of the Lord [concerning eternal salvation through faith in Christ].
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts.15.21,Acts.15.22,Acts.15.24,Acts.15.25,Acts.15.26,Acts.15.28,Acts.15.35&version=AMP

After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth; And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.

Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

Another snapshot of Paul’s teaching was to Timothy:

Paul, an apostle (special messenger, personally chosen representative) of Christ Jesus by the commandment of God our Savior, and of Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed) our Hope [the fulfillment of our salvation],

to Timothy, my true son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace [inner calm and spiritual well-being] from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

As I urged you when I was on my way to Macedonia, stay on at Ephesus so that you may instruct certain individuals not to teach any different doctrines,

But the goal of our instruction is love [which springs] from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

Some individuals have wandered away from these things into empty arguments and useless discussions, wanting to be teachers of the Law [of Moses], even though they do not understand the terms they use or the subjects about which they make [such] confident declarations.
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Tim.1.1,1Tim.1.2,1Tim.1.3,1Tim.1.5,1Tim.1.6,1Tim.1.7&version=AMP

Timothy then becomes a teacher:

The Spirit expressly states that in the acharit-hayamim some people will apostatize from the faith by paying attention to deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.

Such teachings come from the hypocrisy of liars whose own consciences have been burned, as if with a red-hot branding iron.

For everything created by God is good, and nothing received with thanksgiving needs to be rejected, because the word of God and prayer make it holy.

If you present all this to the brothers, you will be serving the Messiah Yeshua well; it will show that you have digested the words of the faith and of the good teaching which you have followed.

But refuse godless bubbe-meises, and exercise yourself in godliness. Command these things and teach them. Until I come, pay attention to the public reading of the Scriptures. Do not neglect your gift, which you were given through a prophecy when the body of elders gave you s’mikhah. Be diligent about this work, throw yourself into it, so that your progress may be clear to everyone.

Pay attention to yourself and to the teaching, continue in it, for by so doing you will deliver both yourself and those who hear you.
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Tim.4.1,1Tim.4.2,1Tim.4.4,1Tim.4.5,1Tim.4.6,1Tim.4.7,1Tim.4.11,1Tim.4.13,1Tim.4.14,1Tim.4.15,1Tim.4.16&version=CJB

Now regarding the other gods the Lord spoke about to Moses:

Be careful to obey everything that I have said to you. Don’t call on the names of other gods. Don’t even mention them.

I’m about to send a messenger in front of you to guard you on your way and to bring you to the place that I’ve made ready. Pay attention to him and do as he says.

Don’t rebel against him. He won’t forgive the things you do wrong because I am with him.
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exod.23.13,Exod.23.20,Exod.23.21&version=CEB

This was reiterated again:

Neither company with these nations: that is, with them that are left with you, neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow unto them:

But stick fast unto the Lord your God, as ye have done unto this day.
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Josh.23.7,Josh.23.8&version=GNV

This is the office of sound teaching from Bishops:

For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest continue to redress the things that remain, and shouldest ordain Elders in every city as I ap-pointed thee.

If any be unreproveable, the husband of one wife, having faithful children, which are not slandered of riot, neither are disobedient.

For a Bishop must be unreproveable, as God’s steward, not froward, not angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre, But harberous, one that loveth goodness, wise, righteous, holy, temperate, Holding fast that faithful word according to doctrine, that he also may be able to exhort with wholesome doctrine, and convince them that say against it.

For there are many disobedient and vain talkers and deceivers of minds, chiefly they of the Circumcision, Whose mouths must be stopped, which subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Titus.1.5,Titus.1.6,Titus.1.7,Titus.1.8,Titus.1.9,Titus.1.10,Titus.1.11&version=GNV

For though by this time you ought to be teachers [because of the time you have had to learn these truths], you actually need someone to teach you again the elementary principles of God’s word [from the beginning], and you have come to be continually in need of milk, not solid food.

For everyone who lives on milk is [doctrinally inexperienced and] unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a spiritual infant. But solid food is for the [spiritually] mature, whose senses are trained by practice to distinguish between what is morally good and what is evil.
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Heb.5.12,Heb.5.13,Heb.5.14&version=AMP

In conclusion:

Not many [of you] should become teachers [serving in an official teaching capacity], my brothers and sisters, for you know that we [who are teachers] will be judged by a higher standard [because we have assumed greater accountability and more condemnation if we teach incorrectly].

As a servant on a mission to share the good news, I look forward to sharing the truth from the inspired Word of Lord from the 66 books we reference as the Holy Bible. As in Psalms 105:17 He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:. I greet you with gladness.
