Why Did The Lord Repent?

It’s an interesting question. He have a few hints of what was going on at that time based on biblical scripture only.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Genesis 6:6

And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

Genesis 18:17

Exodus 32:14

14 And the Lord repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

Where will we find the first appearance of wicked men and giants, these could possibly be related to the consequences of Cain and his lineage.

Remember that there will be a second appearance of the giants as well after the flood. That is also noteworthy.

Let’s resolve two distinct questions from the Kingdom of God perspective. Eve will answer both of them:

1) Who is Man?

2) Who is Seed?

Let’s look at the biblical records:

Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

There it is! It’s another judgement on both of them as well as their lineage. Eve’s seed and the serpents seed are enemies based on what the Lord said, just before they were removed the garden.

But here is what we understand:

1 Peter 1:23

23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Genesis 4:1

And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.

Cain was later a “marked man” by the Lord so that anyone who killed him would also be killed.

Genesis 4:15

And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.

Note that Eve referred to Cain as a “man” and Seth being “another seed.”

Genesis 13:16

And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.

Genesis 22:17

That in blessing I will bless thee, and imultiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; 18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Let’s confirm; these seeds are those whom the Lord sent

Isaiah 41:8

But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

Daniel 4:8 in all English translations

4:8 But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my God, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and before him I told the dream, saying,

Psalms 82:5-7

They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes

John 1:12

But as many as received him, to them gave he power  to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 10:34

Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

As a seed, Seth’s sons were considered the Sons of God (which were born spiritually).

Noah becomes the last descendant of the sons of God prior to the global flood was also considered as a son. He will resume the covenant to have dominion on earth to restore the e divine order and covenant to multiply and replenish the earth.

But something happened with Canaan, and he was then cursed.

Isaiah 40:15

14 Has the Lord ever needed anyone’s advice?
Does he need instruction about what is good?
Did someone teach him what is right
or show him the path of justice?

15 No, for all the nations of the world
are but a drop in the bucket.
They are nothing more
    than dust on the scales.
He picks up the whole earth
as though it were a grain of sand.

Deuteronomy 32:7
Remember the days of old;
consider the years long past. Ask your father,
and he will tell you, your elders, and they will inform you.”

8 When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when He divided the sons of man, He set the boundaries of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God.”

Next, let’s follow this and consider the New Testament reference to this passage.

Here again is an event where the Lord separated those whom are his according to the promises and his covenant with them.

Jude 1: 5-11

I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.

11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

This corruption refers to what Lot was doing. He was a just man but he was living around “filthy dreamers”…Woe unto them.

We can see that Lot lived in the country of Sodom, where wicked people were its residents. They had very evil intentions towards those who were upright and not like them. This reference further explains Cain’s character and that of his lineage.

Genesis 4:17
– The Descendants of Cain
And Cain had relations with his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to Enoch. Then Cain built a city and named it after his son Enoch. “
http://olivetree.com/b2/Gen.4.17.BSB

The name of the city is significant.

We find this in Genesis 18:16
– Abraham Intercedes for Sodom –
“ When the men got up to leave, they looked out over Sodom, and Abraham walked along with them to see them off. “

Genesis 18:17
” And the LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?”
http://olivetree.com/b2/Gen.18.17.BSB

18 ” Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and through him all the nations of the earth will be blessed.

19 For I have chosen him, so that he will command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, in order that the LORD may bring upon Abraham what He has promised.”

20 Then the LORD said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great. Because their sin is so grievous,”

21 I will go down to see if their actions fully justify the outcry that has reached Me. If not, I will find out.”
http://olivetree.com/b2/Gen.18.18.BSB

Side Note: Genesis 19:1) And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground.)

Genesis 19:25

And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

Jude warns that people who cause division, reject authority, and promote themselves out of arrogance will face the same severe judgment from God.

Let’s review God’s covenant with which the angels wanted to look into:

1 Peter 1:11-13 KJV

Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven;

which things the angels desire to look into. Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and…

There would have to be another explanation of the second arrival of the giants (post flood) if The book of Enoch is the reference.

Genesis 4:15

And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

Note: Could Cain’s “mark” result in a change of his stature? Or is it possible Cain’s offspring became the giants due to him being marked(as did Canaan’s upon being cursed) based on his son Lamech boasting about killing men. The giants were also in existence during that time and were already renowned.

23 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.

24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold

Side Note: How did giants arrive again after the flood of Noah’s time? It seems possible that whenever the sons of God’s Descendants was cursed or “marked” as well.. it began again.

Genesis 9:25

And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.) Will we see the return of giants after this curse? Yes!

**Although the Bible does not provide this information, the Jewish general-turned-historian Josephus gives the name of their ancestor as Amorreus. 1 While the Amorites are mentioned in the same contexts as other giants a few times, they are specifically described as giants in the Minor Prophets. https://answersingenesis.org/bible-characters/giants-in-the-bible/

Numbers 13

1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying 2 Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.

Numbers 13:33

And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

There is another question we should ask now: Why did God choose not to repent due to the wickedness of the giants? Here is why: “Because the wickedness of man was great!”

Genesis 6

1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Is there credible evidence of God’s covenant with man is being altered?

But who was NOT destroyed? Noah!

But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

We see the results of the destruction of the old world and the restoration of the covenant through Noah based on this:

Genesis 9:1

And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.

Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof

11 And I will establish my covenant with you, neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.

You have heard some say the reference was to “Angels” as Sons of God.

Let’s now refer to Hebrews:

Hebrews 1:5

For unto which of the angels said he at anytime, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

Let’s note this again: According to scripture, there is a strong indication that angels that left their first estate were accomplices of Satan:

Isaiah 14:12 KJV

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Moving on.

Matthew 25:40-42

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

2 Peter 2:4

For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

Let’s confirm this by Eve’s childbirth records and New Covenant scripture:

John 1:13

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The Lord established the fact that his people are a peculiar people, who have become “Chosen” and described as Sons of God, Children of God, etc.

1Peter 1:23

23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Luke 12:51

50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!

51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

Matthew 10:34

33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Jesus also confirmed his people as “gods”.

John 10:34

33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

Psalm 82:6

I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

This is the conclusion:

Luke 24:44
Jesus said to them, “These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms.””
http://olivetree.com/b2/Luke.24.44.BSB

Again when Abel is slain by his brother Cain and the earth testifies due to the spilled blood., as it became a testimony of the act of an unauthorized death.

And again Abel had offerings during the sacrifices to establish a covenant with The Lord just as Cain did prior to being slain.

Matthew 20:28

Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Let’s remember that Abel’s death is a reflection of Christ’s death as well.

This mirrors the act of when men (Pharisees) killed Jesus. He was being put to death by his alleged brothers in the faith (Just as Abel was killed by Cain, his brother in the faith).

As a servant on a mission to share the good news, I look forward to sharing the truth from the inspired Word of Lord from the 66 books we reference as the Holy Bible. As in Psalms 105:17 He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:. I greet you with gladness.
